What types of therapy do you offer?

At In Touch Counselling a range of therapies is offered tailored to your individual needs. BACP member Wendy Willis, specialises in Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), among others. These evidence-based approaches are designed to address a variety of mental health concerns and empower you to navigate life's challenges effectively.

What is Person-Centred Therapy (PCT)?

Person-Centred Therapy is a humanistic approach that emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship and your innate capacity for growth and self-actualization. During PCT sessions, Wendy creates a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely, facilitating self-exploration and personal growth.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Wendy utilises CBT techniques to help you identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs that contribute to your mental health concerns. By restructuring distorted thinking and implementing practical coping strategies, CBT equips you with the skills necessary to manage symptoms effectively.

What can I expect at my first session?

Your first session at In Touch Counselling is an opportunity for Wendy to get to know you and understand your unique needs and goals. You will have the chance to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve. Wendy will also explain her approach to counselling and answer any questions you may have, ensuring you feel comfortable and informed about the process.

How long does each counselling session last?

Each counselling session typically lasts for 50 minutes to an hour. However, the duration may vary depending on your specific needs and preferences. Wendy will work with you to establish a schedule that best suits your requirements and availability.

How many counselling sessions will I need?

The number of counselling sessions you may need depends on various factors, including the nature of your concerns and your progress in therapy. Wendy will discuss your treatment plan with you and regularly review your goals to ensure you're making meaningful progress towards them.

Is counselling confidentional?

Yes, confidentiality is of the utmost importance at In Touch Counselling. Your privacy and trust are respected at all times, and information shared during sessions is kept strictly confidential in accordance with the ethical framework of BACP.
